Based in Dover

Our client delivers effective gateway and traffic services for our customers. Processing up to 10,000 Lorries per day, 120 ferry crossings, 130 cruise ship calls each year, 335k tonnes of refrigerated cargo, and a vibrant marine leisure sector. It is a 24 x 7 business, facilitating over £120 billion in trade each year. It is an asset intense, fast paced operation facilitating the highest volumes of traffic and vessels of any ferry port in Europe. Each day, the capacity of the port is turned over 5-6 times, which demonstrates the intensive use of the infrastructure to produce the business volumes.

Job Purpose In this role you manage the delivery of multi-disciplinary building services projects from inception to completion in a collaborative ‘Framework Contract’ environment, leading project teams of, contractors, designers, maintainers, operators and other stakeholders. The purpose of this job is to ensure that projects are effectively managed to achieve required project outcomes. Effective collaboration with the supply chain and other stakeholders and technical competence in the design and build process are essential. The role is at the forefront of customer service delivery both internally and externally and the post holder will need a strong customer focus and be service minded.

The post holder will own the delivery of projects from inception to completion ensuring that required project outcomes are defined and delivered effectively and efficiently, ensuring that stakeholder requirements are met.

Typical responsibilities include:

• Lead and manage Framework project teams

• Produce and maintain project initiation and control documents utilising the NEC3 contractual format

• Produce robust project scope documents for procurement of services via work packages to avoid later scope creep, through consultation and collaboration with other business areas and Stakeholders.

• Produce project Gateway papers and present for approval at monthly Project review group

• Manage project budgets, costs and risk and report monthly on progress and spend

• Produce and maintain project delivery programmes and review with Framework contractor and stakeholders

• Proactively communicate with project stakeholders and ensure expectations are managed accordingly

• Ensure that projects are delivered safely and in compliance with all applicable legislation and agreed scope

• Championing customer service delivery by ensuring robust planning, effective communication and timely delivery.

• Act as Project Manager under the NEC Engineering and Construction Contract and represent the Client under the NEC Professional Services Contract

• Work closely with Functional Manager and Building Services Manager to support the Framework Delivery manager and provide regular updates as required

• Attend regular Framework delivery meetings and lead on project updates.

Generic Duties

• Any other duties assigned by the Framework Delivery Manger / Line Manager from time to time. Such duties will be reasonable in relation to the jobholder’s skills, abilities and status.

• To comply with environmental instructions and to identify potential risks to the environment, or areas where environmental impact can be reduced.

• To identify and manage risks, particularly those which affect safety, and to ensure that all tasks under your control are performed with the utmost regard for health and safety. To facilitate effect communication on risk and safety issues between the team and senior management.

· The Ideal Fit Our Operation (Knowledge & Experience)

• Project Management Qualification from the APM or other professional organisation.

• A proven track record of:

· A minimum of 5 years of demonstrable experience as project manager for building services M + E projects.

· Managing projects through the project lifecycle from inception to completion.

· Working collaboratively with contractors, consultants and other stakeholders.

· Proactive communication and management of expectations.

· Producing Works and Site Information for pricing by Contractors and Scope information for pricing by Consultants

· Fulfilling the role of Project Manager under the NEC contracts.

· Managing a portfolio of small to medium size projects. o Producing project budgets and managing costs against budget.

· Producing work/product break down structures and producing and maintaining project programmes using MS Project.

· Producing and maintaining project risk registers.

· Updating the central computer database (IFS) as required.

• A demonstrable understanding of CDM Regulations and Health & Safety Legislation. Cooperate and comply with Company Health, Safety and Environmental policy and procedures. Have regard for own safety, and that of other employees and visitors

• Good user skills in MS Office and MS Project

• Experience of managing costs against set budgets
