Job Title: Finance Assistant

Location: London SE1

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 + bonus scheme


Our client has a new and exciting opportunity for a well-organised and experienced Finance Assistant. Your role will be to support the Financial Controller in running an effective and efficient Finance Department.


Established in 1970 and trading globally in over 40 countries our client remains a family run business with a diverse and friendly team based just a few minutes’ walk from Waterloo.  With a business focused on fair, ethical and sustainable trade the company aims to look after their suppliers, (coffee farmers based in Asia, Indonesia, South & Central America and Africa) and customers (retail & wholesale roasters in the UK, Europe, and Scandinavia).



  • Deal with processing of supplier invoices, and gaining approval for payments

  • Preparation of UK and International BACS/SEPA payment runs

  • Reconciliation of supplier statements and resolving queries

  • Monthly/Quarterly returns e.g VAT (UK, Lithuania, Ireland), EC Sales list, FairTrade returns FLO reporting (organic)

  • Posting bank transfers, and use of HSBC net capability

  • Supporting the preparation of weekly and monthly reporting

  • Maintain petty cash and general office requirements


Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in similar finance related roles

  • Good systems knowledge including Access Dimensions (preferably), Excel and Word

  • Ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and adapt to changing needs

  • Ability to establish and maintain good client relationships

  • Ability to work in an organised and methodical manner

  • Excellent overall communication and presentational skills

  • Motivated, hardworking and reliable
